VCU POLICE DEPARTMENT RENOVATION

Mechanical, electrical and plumbing system design for the total renovation of an existing 25,000 SF, four story building. The project was designed as part of a core and shell tenant upfit. The new design included offices, dispatch center, emergency operations center, gun firing range, fitness center, and locker/shower facilities. The mechanical design included three supplemental, dedicated, direct expansion heating and cooling units on the emergency generator to serve the emergency operations center and dispatch areas during a power outage. Plumbing design included locker area restrooms and showers, break areas with sinks and equipment, the reconfiguration of existing core building drainage stacks allowing for new mechanical chases, and the extension of the existing natural gas system. The electrical design included lighting, power, and fire alarm for the tenant upfit and included integrating a 200kW generator into the existing 2500 amp electric service in order to supply power for critical loads during extended outages.
